In this picture, a barefoot Bohemian girl sits at the stone brench, fingers crossed on the knees. A violin lies on her lap, around by her arms.
The most interesting thing of this painting, however, is not the girl. Pay attention to the background. Here the distant image of Notre Dame is added by the painter after the painting failed to sell initially. Bouguereau included the cathedral so that the painting would sell better for his dealer.
In fact, at a lot of times in history the artist was at the dictate of his patrons. We can see from this situation that an artist would change a painting because of his dealer to be "weird".
