This is one of three similar still lifes of apples and grapes in a basket that Monet painted, probably in late 1879 and early 1880.
One of the works, "Still Life: Apples and Grapes," is dated 1880 (Art Institute of Chicago); the other is in the Kimbell Art Museum, Fort Worth, Texas.
